Day 21 Drive to Banff

Hard to believe we’ve been on our big adventure for 3 weeks. DragOn has served us well. It was a long drive today from Writing On Stone to Banff National Park. Made it even longer when we stopped at Walmart to bolster supplies since we will be here for 8 nights. But once we entered the park, we were blown away by the majesty and magnitude of these mountains. In the distance, they didn’t even look real. This area has had some good rains lately so smoke hasn’t been an issue so far. Our Lake Louise Campground is nestled in an evergreen forest and we have a peek-a-boo view of the mountains. Temps were dropping by the time we came in for dinner. No windows open tonight. We are located in a valley so the trains run right by the campground. THAT wasn’t in the brochure! Probably half the places we’ve camped at have been near train tracks. Hoping these trains don’t run too late or too often; however, the magnificent scenery trumps any train noises. First thing tomorrow morning, we hit the Visitor’s Center to make some reservations and see what Banff has to offer.
