Day 28 Reboot and Planning
After living in a camper for a month, it was time to clean, reorganize and take a break from phenomenal sightseeing and hiking. Also we needed to plan and make more reservations for the remainder of our adventure. By 4pm, mission accomplished. We did plan one thing for today, dinner at the historical Lake Louise Train Station that sits near the rushing Bow River. Built in 1910 by the Canadian Pacific Railway, it was a hub for locals and tourists. It was also the local telegraph office. Lots of the original equipment and furnishings are on display. It is one of the few log stations left in Canada and perfectly preserved. Little has changed over the last 100 plus years; even the intricate wooden ticket window is still in the “station shop”. While we ate a savory dinner of Bison lasagna and bison burger, a train came roaring by a few feet from one of the large beveled glass windows. Two train cars including a dining car that carried excited passengers still sit in the side yard. Tomorrow we won’t be boarding a train car but instead, our trusty Toyota and will re-enter the good ol’ U.S. of A.
