Had a decent night’s sleep at the brewery. Few trains rolled by in the night but it was just part of the city lullaby. Embarked on another travel day to get to Wisconsin. Not sure what Illinois is doing with all their tax dollars but they ain’t spending it on their roads. Driving here feels like boating on turbulent waters. Speaking of boating, we passed many of the places we went by when doing the Great Loop, different perspective of the terrain along the Illinois River. The oil wells that dotted the countryside yesterday were replaced with 2800 wind turbines today. Aframe camper is working out so far. We have everything we need, and nothing that we don’t. We have a shower, toilet, sink, queen bed, microwave, 2 burner gas stove, frig with freezer, dinette, a/c & heat, music, storage and sets up in about 5 minutes. Then breaks down to fit in the garage. One draw back is the smaller tires that force us to drive slower & stay off major highways BUT because of that, we see waaaay more of this beautiful country. So many small towns & back roads forgotten in the wake of the interstate system. Finally landed at John & Sara’s in Hazel Green, WI where we were treated to fresh pineapple margaritas & a delicious dinner. Ended our long day by watching Top Gun 2 on their giant screen tv. Was it worth having the fillings shaken out of my teeth to get here?!
Yes, yes it was.
