Day 9 Day in the “Heartland”

Said goodbye to Sara, John, Molly & Lucy (fur babies) and proceeded to cross Iowa. Simple farmhouses, barns & silos dotted the rolling hills and fields. It was captivating…at first; so different from Florida. Wide open spaces! No condos, hotels, restaurants, trailer parks, malls or even many cities, for that matter. Iowa is the “food capital of the world”. Other fun facts about Iowa (I had lots of time to research) - Iowa means “beautiful”; they have the highest literacy rate; hogs outnumber people 4 to 1; and it is the home of The Hobo Convention.  However, after about 5 hours,  I thank the American farmer,  bless their hearts, but I was pretty much over the “Hawkeye State”. Made it to Scenic Park Campground in Nebraska to set up for the night. Our site is on the Missouri River right across from downtown Sioux City, Iowa.  Tomorrow we head for The Badlands!
