Day 28 July 4 (Independence Day holiday)

We crossed Admiralty Bay this morning on the 4th of July on the Port Townsend ferry. We were the first vehicle in line, first on the boat and first off to head to Oak Harbor on Whidbey Island. Had a yummy lunch at our Harvest Host, Flyers Brewery, then checked out some scenic countryside. At 7:30, we headed down to the seaside park to watch fireworks not realizing that they didn’t start till after 10pm. Watching the people and cars scrambling and vying for parking spots was a show in itself. When we got back to our camper around 10:45, fireworks were still going off everywhere. I have never been in a city with this many personal and commercial displays. It sounded like Whidbey was under attack. Not sure how much sleep we will get tonight. Tomorrow we move to the other side of the island to an RV park close to Deception Bay.
