What a difference from the complete remoteness of the Georgia marshes to downtown Savannah, one of my favorite cities. The passage to the marina was filled with stately manors and a twisty, turny channel. After a crazy docking during the onslaught of a storm, we hit Dub's Pub on the River for the best Bloody Mary's in the world. . . and some fried corn on the cob. The south can find a way to fry ANYTHING. After some shopping, we said goodbye to Gary, who headed back to Atlanta. In case anyone else is trying to figure out a way to come boat with us - Gary left his car at the marina where we were headed and where he wanted to go home from, then rented a car from a nearby agency (they picked him up) and he drove to where he wanted to embark with us. After showing us Jekyll Island, Gary and John drove the car to the rental place and they dropped them back off at the marina where we departed. I'm thinking we could work this out with air travel too. Email or call us if you want to join us for a portion of our journey. Laundry tonight then leaving Savannah for the Buford area tomorrow after a quick stop at the marine store.
Looked over your ports and saw Savannah. My daughter lives in the Savannah area and she and her husband have a Dusky they keep at Hogan's Marina on Turner's Creek. They named their youngest daughter Evelyn Turner after my mom and Turner's Creek. Oh and by the way, Paula Dean lives on Turner's Creek.
