So there's bad news and good news then more bad news and ... well, you get the picture. Bad news - After a rocky, miserable night, we get up to winds and choppy seas so no boating today. One boat on the free city wall was rocking and jerking so badly yesterday morning that they ripped off a cleat. It took 4 guys to get them off the wall to safety. Good news - So I'm like, that's okay because now we get to see the world famous musical dancing water fountain's Friday show on the hill which is almost right across from our slip. Bad news - But noooooo, the municipal marina is over booked and they have a bunch of sailboats coming in for a race, so we have to move. Meanwhile, there's more storms moving in. Good news - There's slips available across the river and they are more protected so we won't get bounced around all night. Our friends, Becky and Dell, decide to move there to North Shore Marina, and we follow. Bad news - You can't see the fountain from North Shore because it's behind the marina and there's no way to walk to get to the other side. Good news - Becky's dear friend, who was her maid of honor and lives near here, comes to the rescue. She is driving here later to take us to dinner and the viewing area. And that's where I'm going to leave it. The following are pictures I found on the internet of the Musical Fountain. It is the world's largest of its kind, only comparable to the one in Las Vegas at the Bellagio. William Booth, an engineer, designed and built the fountain in 1963. The creation involves 1.5 miles of pipe, 300 valves and 1,300 nozzles to create the water patterns. The fountain is 250 feet long and 100 feet wide with more than 3,000 electrical components, 5,000 electrical connections and 20,000 feet of wire. It recirculates about 40,000 gallons of water every 10 minutes.Tomorrow we should have calm seas and can make our way down to Saugatuck. More good news - Good weather is predicted for 4 days in a row, which has been an oddity since we hit Lake Michigan.
What an interesting trip? Did you teach history or just memorization techniques? Great job anyway. We have a new grandson!
