Day 119 Pizza and museums in Chicago

First, let's address the weather. It is damn cold here - it's 45 degrees and still raining. There's small craft warnings until tomorrow evening so we are staying in the Windy City one more day. Got Ron to take us to the train again so we could visit the Field Museum. What a massive, magnificent collection of...well, everything. We thought it was where "Night in the Museum" was filmed. It wasn't, that was in NYC, but it closely resembles it. However, it was where Indiana Jones had his home base. Also The Relic, She's Having A Baby, and Damien, the Omen II were filmed there...but I digress. The Field Museum is one of the largest natural history museums in the world. This facility and its collections originated from the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition. In order to house and save the exhibits and collections assembled for 1893 Chicago World’s Fair for future generations, Edward Ayer convinced Marshall Field, who was a wealthy merchant, to fund the establishment of a museum. A lot of the original stuff is still on display. Some of the animals were taxidermied 100 years ago. It is impossible to get through all the collections in one day. As you walk in the door, you see Sue, the most complete Tyrannisaurus Rex fossil ever discovered. It's 42 feet long and named after the woman who discovered "her". We stayed there till they closed, then took a subway ride downtown. We ARE adventurous. Found the famous pizza place, Gino's, that's been serving delicious deep dish pizza since 1966. The sauce and crust is what puts it on top. The Chicago craft beers were an added bonus. Walked to the Hyatt and caught the casino bus to take us back to the boat. Tomorrow the weather should clear and we plan on taking a river cruise.
