Day 176 Three Miles From Florida

Cloudy and cold when we left Eastern Shore, the last out of state marina we will stay at on the Loop. Only a light chop as we made the Mobile Bay crossing with Serenity. After about an hour, we passed Free Bird, who was joining us at out last anchorage in Alabama, Ingram Bayou. The scenery is very familiar - no real palm trees yet, but lots of scrub pines and marsh. Dolphins, pelicans and "sea rats" all over the place. We passed the famous Lulu's which is Jimmy Buffet's sister's restaurant. It use to be a popular, quaint local color type place, but now it more resembles an amusement park. Got a little commercial. Sara and John rafted with us in our quiet, peaceful setting. Put up my swing and Jack immediately took possession of it when I went to check on supper. We had a "progressive dinner" between the two boats. We made drinks, then we went to Free Bird for crab appetizers, then back to Sundowner for jambalaya, then cookies back on their sailboat. It was a good evening. Jack loves to snoop around Free Bird - he has no boundaries, and wants to meet Molly, Sara and John's kitty, so badly, but Molly isn't ready yet. They made eye contact through the screen so that's a start. It's still very cold at night, but tomorrow it should continue to warm as we re-enter our beloved Florida. Only going 14 miles to another anchorage where we can get off the boat and hit the beach!
