Got up at 5:15 this morning hoping to get an early start so we could get through the lock. It was only an hour up river, but they did not lock us through till almost noon. Frustrating. We were so happy to hear that our friends on Free Bird got their reservations changed so we could hook up at Green Turtle Bay Marina - if we could just get there. The Ohio was slow going against the current, but we maintained about 7 mph. The scenery seemed to lose it's fall flavor. Still dodging tows all day. Sun turned to clouds and a few raindrops in the afternoon, but we kept going. Made it to the Cumberland River and Kentucky with the sunshine returning but Mother Nature added a 20 mph wind right in the face. The landscape got more hilly, almost mountainous, and lush. Kentucky is a beautiful state. The last lock of the day was a 57 foot lift and no waiting time - a new record and experience right before we made it to the marina. Slid in before dusk. The staff had a "Loopers-que" (bar-b-que) to thank all the Loopers for their business, so didn't have to make dinner tonight. Saw a lot of our Looper friends and hope we get to see more tomorrow since we are staying here for a couple days. Checked the radar this evening and that front is finally upon us. Tornado watch in the area so we battened down the hatches before we get a well- deserved sleep.
