Day 153 Marsh Creek
FINALLY, the weather cleared today. It was cold at first, but as the day progressed, the temps became perfect. Amazing how 24 hours can change things. Billy Joe fueled us up. He has 4 kids - all with 2 names, of course, but the best one is Cody Joe, named after his dog, a huntin' Blue. Best dog he ever had. His wife didn't cotton to it at first, but then she was made to realize what an honor it was to be named after ol' Cody. Will miss Billy's morning stories over complimentary sweet rolls. As we were leaving the marina inlet and heading back into open water, we scattered a massive flock of birds. We may be following the white pelicans back to Florida. I have been referring to this section of the river as the Tennessee - it's technically still Kentucky Lake and we left it today and are now in the Tennessee. Passed some shoreline homes that could make my "I want to live there" short list. The countryside is a combination of forests, rocks, cliffs...and trailor parks. I thought we had a lot in Florida, Tennessee may have us beat. They also have more spiders than anywhere else on the Loop. I hate spiders. They've made me want to burn my copy of Charlotte's Web. I have no idea how a tiny arachnid could poop that much. The current was strong because of all the rain; however, John found a peaceful, gorgeous inlet right off of the river (pic 4). As is my usual behavior when we anchor out, I was searching the area for wildlife. The last pic is an albino turtle floating along on a piece of rug. It's too small to see on the IPad picture, but take my word for it, it was an unusual, amazing sight. Looking forward to the starry, starry night with no light pollution. Data and cell are sketchy here. We boat to Wolf Creek anchorage tomorrow.
